Nanaquiba was the principal chief of the St. Joseph Potawatomi. Living from 1720-1790 Nanaquiba had great influence over the Potawatomi people as a great leader. In 1755 while alining with the French, top British General Braddock was killed, durring this skirmish, Nanaquiba & his men stole 200 British horses thus introducing a new mode of transportation to the St Joseph Potawatomi. In 1757, Nanaquiba & 70 of his men were involved in the siege of Ft. William Henry, after raiding the fort, the St Joseph Potawatomi were in contact with smallpox which was broght back home, Nanaquiba survived.
